Saints' February Excellence Earns EFL Recognition for Dynamic Duo

Well, well, well. It appears Southampton have remembered how to play football, and the EFL has actually noticed. What a pleasant surprise all around.

Tonda Eckert finds himself nominated for Manager of the Month after orchestrating a rather decent February, collecting 13 points from 15 available through four wins and a draw. Not too shabby for a club that’s made inconsistency an art form in recent years.

The month’s highlight was undoubtedly that comeback victory at Leicester, where Saints somehow managed to win after being three goals down—a first in the club’s history. Because naturally, when Southampton finally achieves something historic, it has to involve the most dramatic possible circumstances.

Cyle Larin marked his debut with the winner against Watford, while only Charlton managed to spoil the party with a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s. The real fireworks came in demolition jobs against QPR (5-0) and Sheffield Wednesday (3-1), proving that when Saints are on, they’re really on.

Leo Scienza has also earned recognition with a Player of the Month nomination, having contributed directly to nine of Saints’ 14 February goals. The Brazilian was officially credited with one goal and four assists across five starts, though his knack for creating space apparently helped generate even more chances—a diplomatic way of saying his teammates should probably buy him dinner.

Eckert faces competition from Philippe Clement (Norwich), Frank Lampard (Coventry), and Alex Neil (Millwall), while Scienza battles Femi Azeez (Millwall), Sydie Peck (Sheffield United), and Haji Wright (Coventry) for individual honours.

The winners will be announced Friday. Saints return to St Mary’s on 18th March against Norwich, because nothing says “maintain momentum” like facing your managerial rival’s team.
